Live at the Edge of Your Comfort Zone

I’ve always loved stories about people who overcome obstacles and find ways to bounce back from adversity. As a journalist, I traveled to war zones and into living rooms to interview presidents, politicians, soldiers and civilians.  Whether it was a complex military operation or a local news story, my goal was always the same: to shine a light on the human experience.

War reporting transformed me. I saw a sacred space where everyday people emerged from tremendous suffering and loss with real-life superpowers called resilience, inner strength and empathy. Their courage taught me how to face fear and uncertainty and push myself far beyond what I thought my mind and body could manage.

Back on the home front, I realized that I didn’t need to go to Baghdad to be brave. When we step outside of what feels comfortable, we give ourselves the chance to become our most courageous and authentic selves.
